Today’s players

A Franco-Geneva cooperation to manage the cable car, with the collaboration of Europe’s public transport leader for the day-to-day running.

The owner of the Cable Car: the GLCT

The GLCT (Local Group of trans-frontier cooperation) was created on 15th March 2006, by the District Bylaw n° 2006.549. This organisation allows the creation of a new legal base more suitable to the trans-frontier cooperation necessary to manage the Salève cable car. Its aim is to manage the operations of the lift service of the Salève cable car. For this, it:  - Assumes the whole of the obligations of an owner for the property and buildings put under its responsibility to exercise its job,  - Organises the lift service (periods and amplitude of functioning, frequency and times of the services),  - Chooses the day-to-day running of the installations (the management contract, competitive marketing, the financial aspects and the control),  - Fixes the tariff structure, the information details and the advertising,  - Puts into act all actions aimed at developing the use of and the attractiveness of the lifts,  - Coordinates the day-to-day running with the appropriate authorities of the other public transport systems.

The GLCT has a president (M. Maurice GIACOMINI), a vice-president (M.Robert CRAMER), a board and an assembly made up of people representing:

The Republic and the Canton of Geneva
The Commune of Monnetier-Mornex
Annemasse Agglo, the Community of communes of the Annemasse Annemasseienne

The manager : Veolia Transport

The management company exists since 1984. Since 1st January 2008 it is part of the group Veolia Transport. In 2008, the GLCT handed over, by public service delegation, (after an invitation to tender) to the group Veolia Transport, the management and day to day running of the Salève cable car for a duration of 5 years, until 31st December 2012.

Its vocation is that of an expert in mobility, the worry of accompanying a durable economic development of the territories that it serves.
