Geological discovery

The geological path
A well marked-out path starting from Coin (Collonges-sous-Salève) and passing through the Orjobet grotto before reaching the top of the Salève. Along the path there are information boards and tables.

Be careful ! It’s a mountain path.

Botanical discovery

The botanical path

Situated at the extreme North East of the upper platform of the cable car, the botanical path has explication signposts all along it at the foot of each species of tree.

The botanic path that starts near the upper station, offers a wide variety of flower species. It is without difficulty and the circuit takes about half an hour. The FEDRE organises visits of this path.

Green light for biological corridors.

A magnificent nature path !
Discover by yourself or with the family, the different animal populations as well as the biological corridors and the obstacles that can be found along them. There are two beautiful fun and educational walks, in the valley floor or in mid-mountain (which is accessed using the cable car, of course !). The two circuits are marked by this little picture all along the two itineraries. _

This project was undertaken under a trans-frontier programme aimed at creating awareness for the biological corridors, and co-financed by the Confédération Helvétique, the Conseil général de Haute-Savoie, a private foundation, the République and the canton de Genève, l’Union Européenne -Fonds Européen de Développement Régional (FEDER)

Apollon 74, the Frapna and Pro Natura are the 3 associations who organised and carried out this wonderful project. Don’t hesitate in contacting them if you would like further information!

Mycological discovery

The Salève is the home of a wide variety of mushrooms, from the most common (russules, cèpes, lactaires, agarics...) to the more rare (hygrocybes, cortinaires, entolomes, cystolépiotes...). The short grass and the beech groves are, as well as the beautiful peat bog below the Tour des Pitons, very interesting habitats for expert mycologists as well as amateurs. The Salève is also a highly interesting place for botanists.

To know more about the mushrooms and to have lots of other information, why not visit the site Découvertes mycologiques. A passionate site, on which you will find, amongst other things, some very beautiful photos, but also the programme of the organised conferences, very well documented files …. print (new window)
